Addiction and Drug Abuse

Drug addiction is a scary thing, it turns you into a zombie who is possessed by one and only desire – to get a dose of drug and save yourself from suffering from withdrawal pains.
If you do not control the usage of the drugs either over-the-counter or prescribed (e.g. tranquilizers, sleeping pills etc.), it leads to you becoming addicted to them. Let alone such illegal drugs as cocaine, marijuana, heroin, LCD etc. which do not suggest the notion of control even, they just must not be taken under any condition.
Mind that there are many various kinds of substance abuse and addictions – you can be addicted to drugs, medications, alcohol, cigarettes and even sex! When you become a substance-addict you start feeling that everything that used to be prior in your life (family, friends, job, health) starts coming far after things you need most – drugs.
With regard to side effects of drugs that concern your health only, you must realize that they cause an incurable damage to your both physical and mental health. Drugs make you feel sickness and pain whenever you do not satisfy your constant stable need for the substance you are addicted to.
The initial-mid signs of drug abuse and addiction are represented by bleeding nose, sleep disorders, teeth problems, drastic weight loss or, on the contrary, the gain of extra kilos. Let alone the fact that drugs affect your mental health in a highly dangerous way – that implies your memory, concentration, general ability to think clearly, sensibly and actually soberly.
One thing you must remember regarding here: drugs are weapon, your ‘friends’ who offer them to you are killers who use this very powdery or liquid weapon to make money on your death.

Alcohol Abuse Consequences

If a person drinks alcohol excessively, it means that he or she will face physical and spiritual devastation very soon. Even after a few drinks a person may lose control over his/her condition and get into an accident because of this. Alcohol abuse results in destructive changes in a person’s behaviour, brings harm to a person’s mental condition and physical state, moreover, it often destroys the lives of alcoholics’ families and loved ones.
So what are the consequences of alcohol abuse for a person’s physical health? First and foremost, a person loses control over his/her body (muscles) and behaviour when drunk. This can lead to total lack of normal coordination, hence fatal and even lethal outcomes.
Another physical effect of alcoholism is vividly presented by the so-called blackouts or memory losses. Excuse the triviality of example, but do you remember Britney’s masterpiece with the eloquent name ‘Blur’? ‘Where the hell am I? Who are you? What’d we do last night?’ – These and more than a few other quotes from the song reveal this amnesiac result of excessive drinking very brightly.
Ever felt hungover? I bet you just ‘love’ the feelings and sensations it rewards one with! Nausea, headaches, dizziness, fatigue… Mind that if one continues drinking heavily, he/she rapidly approaches alcohol dependency which prompts withdrawal! If one continues in the same spirit and becomes an ‘experienced’ alcoholic, he/she puts his/her liver at stake. Let alone the fact that continuous alcohol abuse contributes to erectile dysfunction in men and increases the threat of suffering from insomnia, high blood pressure, cancer, brain and heart diseases – the whole bouquet of diseases and conditions which one can easily avoid by common sense, strong will and control over oneself.
Do you think instant and transient pseudo-relaxation and pseudo-pleasure alcohol brings to a person is worth maiming your and your closest people’s life for it? I don’t think so. I’m sure you are of the same opinion.

Alcoholism Symptoms

What is alcoholism? Alcoholism is a chronic and even often progressive disease which can lead to fatal and often even lethal consequences. Everybody knows alcohol is evil when abused, but many people still risk their physical, spiritual and even social health and start getting used to drinking heavily.
Do you tend to drink alone rather often than rarely? Do you find excuses to drink? Did you stop caring about your appearance? Are you aggressive and even slightly violent at work, with your family, anywhere? Do you hide a few bottles of booze from your family/girlfriend/boyfriend/ anyone who will be very worried about the whole thing afterwards? If the answer to most of these questions is yes, then Yes, you are Mr. Smith and you are an alcoholic.
Of course, not a single mister or Ms will admit that he or she is an alcoholic, that’s why the symptoms and signs of alcoholism presented in my publication are in the majority of cases a point to consider for alcoholics’ friends, relatives, mates, anyone who actually cares and notices their fellows’ addiction.
Pay attention to some psychological symptoms of alcoholism: weak will, lack of concentration and control, confusing relations with other people, ‘doubles’ ordered in the pubs or bars, the need to increase alcohol ‘dosage’ to feel its pseudo-soothing effect. Social consequences of alcoholism for a person are numerous arrests, violence at home or at any place where a person feels especially irritated. In case alcoholism progresses, its fatal influence suggests total deterioration of a person’s mental, physical, spiritual health and social image. And now the final question – do you need such a huge pile of problems at all?? If not – you better quit even starting depending on spirits.

Alcohol and Impotence – in Search of Connection

We drink alcohol at parties or on some great occasions often without realizing that we have crossed the limits of the allowed dosage of beverages that contain alcohol. Certainly, there are people who are absolutely intolerant towards drinking alcohol but it’s better than abusing and overusing it. In any case, although there are many scientific conclusions that speak of beneficial effect of small amounts of alcohol (wine in particular) on a person’s body, drinking much brings no good.
However, it’s a well known and proven fact that excessive drinking leads to totally harmful consequences which are connected with one of the most important spheres of a man’s life – intimate relations with women or, to be more precise, a man’s ability to healthily lead these intimate relations. To put it medically simple, we’re speaking of impotence which is a man’s inability to reach or preserve normal erection for normal sexual intercourse.
What is the connection between excessive ‘alcoholizing’ and erectile dysfunction (impotence) and is there any? Even Shakespeare mentioned harmful influence of alcohol on a man’s ‘performance’ many years ago, doctors only surround his poetic facing facts with trustworthy scientific research and conclusions. What do they say regarding the issue? First, alcohol prevents the production of testosterone (the hormone that is responsible for a man’s sex desire). When a man is drunk, his testicles refuse to produce this hormone and as a result a man is more interested in sleeping rather than in having sex. Even this phrase out of the great number of conclusions on the subject sounds kinda creepy…
As you can see, there is a direct connection between this sinful cause (alcoholism) and sadly sober effect (impotence), ladies and gentlemen. According to the research, excessive drinking for long period of time leads to all-time impotence i.e. when a man’s sexual performance is reduced to none even when he is sober. Reasons which back up this dangerous outcome are weak nervous system plus equally ‘powerful’ mental and physical health of a person.

Passive Smoking - Doubled Danger

Many people know about dangerous consequences they eagerly ‘invite’ by smoking. However, they are not too eager to quit anyway. They excuse their weakness in the addictive field of hanging on to tobacco world by saying that it’s their business only meaning that they bring harm to their health only.
However, they are very wrong when stating it because when a person smokes he or she shares harmful consequences with all the people who regularly or randomly surround him/her: family members, friends, colleagues or even casual bystanders.
You have most probably heard of passive smoking – one’s ‘own’ smoking business which eagerly turns into all the surrounding people’s business as well. The case is also called ‘secondhand smoking’ i.e. when smoke is inhaled by people who are close to the smoker.
The situation is more serious than you can imagine because, according to the research, passive smoking is more dangerous than ‘active’ one. Secondhand smoking person ‘enjoys’ not only the smoke from a burning cigarette but also ‘savours’ the smoke exhaled by a close-standing smoker. This boosts the danger because the exhaled smoke contains much more impressive number of chemicals and harmful substances, for instance, doubled amount of tar and nicotine. Needless to say that passive smokers eventually become highly vulnerable to diseases related to people who smoke in a ‘first-hand’ way.
Secondhand smoking is especially harmful for children and pregnant women. Statistics says passive smokers have very high chances of catching the wave of heart and lung diseases which doesn’t exclude cancer…
That’s why if you are an active smoker, you have now (re)discovered another – most important and encouraging reason to quit the devastating habit once and for all. Unless you’re selfish enough to overlook the fact that you slowly poison (kill) your loved ones every time you light up a cigarette.

Peeps! Give up Smoking!

Every time you lit up a cigarette you probably anticipate the moment when you are all wrapped up in a savoury elusive feeling that your cigarette saves you from all your worries and anxieties. With such a great amount of information on the harm of smoking attacking you from every nook and cranny of our health-caring world you must be well aware of the fact that this pseudo-blissful feeling is very misleading and fake.
If you are still into self-deception and can’t find a single reason to quit smoking, we’ll eagerly help you do it. One of the last and the least reasons to give up this pernicious habit of yours is that smoking drives people away from you. A lot of people nowadays can’t stand smokers, and you wouldn’t want to feel like a stinky outcast, would you?
The main reason to quit, certainly, implies the fact that smoking brings much harm to your health. It prevents your heart from working normally and turns it into an engine which eventually becomes incurably out of order. Smoking wraps up your lungs in a black coat which scarcely prompts any healthy style; it prevents you from sleeping soundly because nicotine actively keeps a person’s mind awake.
If you smoke during pregnancy you contribute to your future child’s bad health. Smoking helps you age much faster than usual by drawing deep wrinkles on your face and painting your teeth yellow… Needless to say that smoking is such a useless and healthless waste of time and money. Now that you are well aware of some reasons to quit devouring your destructive smoke don’t hesitate to do it. By doing it you will immediately save you and your closest ones from many problems with health.
